On Nov 3rd, 2021 I visited Fred Meyer in Auburn WA to do some shopping. I attempted to complete my shopping by paying for my items at a self- check out register. I was approached by an assistant store manager by the name of Janis Divine (See Pictured of her in red vest). She appeared out of no where and for no good reason at all, and just flat-out lied about my being intoxicated, and then denied me of making my purchase based off of her lie. Then a male employee got involved in this melee, because I asked her why was she lying on me. Because I had consumed no alcohol on that day. The male employee had no mask on his face while inside the store and everyone else did. The next thing I know, and due to no fault of my own, this employee pulled out a "BOX CUTTER KNIFE on me in a threatening manner and told me me to leave the store. And at that moment in time I believed i was going to be "MURDERED" by this person with the "KNIFE". To add insult to injury, I was injured by the security guard featured here. When he violently smashed my camera phone into my face, so as to prevent me from taking pictures of all involved in this melee. As he stated, when he was assaulting me he said "NO PICTURES". They all conspired to lure me outside of the store where the employee was waiting for me with the " BOX CUTTER KNIFE" in this hand to kill me. I had no weapon (s) on my person at that moment in time. The manager Janis Divine (pictured in red vest). It's as if they had all gone"stark freaking mad". This entire melee was so ludicrous that the Auburn Police Dept. refused to respond to my plea for help when i called 911 asking them to help me, they just flat-out refused to respond. The sgt. on duty telling me on the phone "WE'RE NOT COMING TO HELP YOU". And, can you believe this, the law firm that I hired to represent me sent them a very nice letter, listed here. Simply asking the corporate office in Portland, OR for an explanation for their employees extremely bad behavior. And wouldn't you know it, all we got from them were "CRICKETS" sounding-off. Why is corporate so afraid to respond to our inquiry? Thank you Customer Complainant

Fred Meyer Jewelers - Horrible Customer Service
A friend and I went in to Fred Meyer Jewelers in Meridian, ID and got the hard sell from Dee Wood. She talked me in to a wedding ring and told me to wait a week for a sale that was coming up. She made it a point to take down all my information, my fiance's info and wrote down the skew number for the ring. She told me she would call us the day before to remind us of the sale. The next week we went in to the jewelers to order the ring even though Dee had not called us like promised. When we walked in and said we were there to purchase the ring, she said WHICH ONE WAS IT? I had tried on very similar rings that were the same or similar, so I wasn't sure and reminded her that she had taken all of my information down and had written the skew number down. Turns out she didn't have this information saved. Then she laughingly made the comment that she hadn't called any of her clients "because tomorrow was her day off." The ring needed to be sized and after an hour long process of entering our information in to the computer, we were told our pick up date for the ring would be seven days from purchase day. I hadn't received a call from them to pick it up by five pm on that day, so I called. I explained to this man with a deep voice who had NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS, that I was calling to see if my ring had come in. He said, "well did you get a call?" WELL DID YOU GET A CALL? It was so rude how he said it. I explained that it was five pm on the day I was supposed to pick it up and no one had called. He asked for my info and pulled it up in the computer. He said, "your promise date is today." NO *** That's why I'm calling. He said, "well we got some in this morning, let me go check." He got back on the line and told me, "it's here but you can't have it until tomorrow." SO NOT ON THE PROMISED DAY??? When I questioned this he said, "it's because of the Covid." I said I didn't understand what Covid had to do with picking up the ring on the promised day. He said, "I don't know, we are just supposed to hold them for a day." It's so rare these days to get good customer service and have a good experience during a buying process. If you are looking for that, do NOT go to Fred Meyer Jewelers in Meridian, ID. I soooo regret giving them our business. We were going to go ahead and buy my fiance's wedding band when we picked up my ring but there is no way we are buying anything else from there. R

My ring that my ex-husband gave me for Valentine's Day had lost one of its small diamonds. (Poor quality. This is the second time this has happened) Finally open back up due to Covid-19. Go to talk to the cashier, and she can't find me in the system. Wtf!?! Not my only ring from there with a service plan. I have had stone replacement and re-sizing done there. Tried my ph # my ex name and #. My physical paperwork was stolen when my storage unit got robbed. She said she could not help me. I asked for a phone # to call. I said there must be a glitch. She was very rude and said no glitch" and then just started at me.

I made a lay-a-way down payment on a ring in December for myself as a gift. With plans to get my ring in March, low and behold the Jewelers is closed and don't know when they will reopen with No call to Customers regarding this closure...they'll just keep your money and won't give it back. I've talked to Corporate with false promises to mail me a check and was told will do ASAP but have not received it yet and this is May now. They are Rip Off's and Deceitful. Bought wedding ring set

Was told there would be no problem sizing down. I had my rings three weeks and diamonds fell out. This happened three times in two months. Had a custom one made and they did a shoddy job. I was told it would take five weeks to correct. I have now been seven months in and still no rings. I got my money back and will never buy jewelry from them again. All I got was we' re sorry.

You got your money back after 7 months? That's actually pretty generous.

All you got was an apology? Were you expecting something else?

They were under no obligation to give you a refund after 7 months. Name another jeweler that will do that.

Broke watch

Watch was slowing down. Needed new battery. They replaced battery. After that the watch only worked intermittently. Took it back and they suggested sending it off for repair. Researched battery replacement with the manufacturer- they stated that if you touch the “coil” with metal tweezers the mechanism can be destroyed. This seems to be what happened

There's a million different things that could have happened to your watch. Every jeweler knows about the coil issue. If they touched the coil it wouldn't have worked when the battery was replaced.

I upgraded a 2nd time when I remarried in 2004. I wore my set less than a week and the first diamond fell out of my band. They exchanged it. Since then I've had over a half dozen diamonds fall out and that many more loose. I bought the extended warranty but it was only good for 3 years! Fred Meyers remedy? Time to upgrade again. They have changed their warranty to lifetime so if this were to happen to any jewelry, since changing to lifetime warranty, it'd be covered. They will not get another red cent from me. Last time I had THREE diamonds loose. They sent it off and charged me $60 for each diamond to be tightened. I told them to FIX it so no more fall out. You should've seen the mess when it came back to me! I recently went to another jeweler who showed me how bad it really was under their microscope. I WISH I knew how to get this mess fixed and could post pictures. Do not purchase jewelry at this joke of a jeweler.

I agree! It's been 2 1/2 years since we got engaged and I've had 4 now going to be 5 diamonds replace and 3 in the last few months. I am beyond mad!

Guest

Why is it someone can wear a ring and have so many problems and someone else can wear the identical ring and have zero issues? Is it the rings fault or the way it's being worn?

Everyone has different habits that affects the wearability of their jewelry.

Did they check the stones again before you accepted the repair and were they all tight? If so, something happened to the ring.

Original review May 22, 2018
Scam! These people should be jailed for the scam they are running. They tell you the insurance covers lost, damaged, or stolen ring/diamond. After taking the ring in for its 6 month inspection/cleaning like they say to do. My wife lost her diamond after bumping her hand while in a restaurant. We take it in to have it replaced. After waiting three weeks, we get a call from Fred meyers saying it won’t be replaced because they “think” there was tampering done to the diamond! HOW convenient... they sell you on the ring... they sell you on the insurance!! Then what do you know. THEY WONT COVER IT! Such horrible service. Pathetic company. DONT BUY FROM FRED MEYERS JEWELERS. now out thousands of dollars because somebody looks at a ring and simply says “ughhh yeah I think it’s been tampered with”. My wife always took great care of this ring. Always took it off while doing anything that could potentially hurt or damage the ring. So FRUSTRATING that when something did happen and thinking “thank god we got the insurance”. Then to find out they won’t help you anyways. This company is HORRIBLE! Won’t ever get another penny from me and hopefully every person I can warn about this place.

The care plan does not cover lost diamonds. The "gemstone guarantee" covers that (2 separate things) which covers the diamond if it's inspected every 6 months.

And yes, they should have replaced the diamond. Contact the home office.

Guest

The LifeTime Jewerly care plan (from my understanding) dosent cover if it is lost or stolen.. that is what home owners and renters insurance is for.

But in regards to the "tampering" I think that was very bold of them to accuse you of that! They should have just taken care of it from the start.

Blackballed!

Here is my horror story about Fred Meyer. I agreed to appraise jewelry for them in Boise, Idaho during September 2016. To insure I had proper equipment and supplies, I drove from Delaware. It took me four days . . . each way; eight 1/2 total. I was given eight appraisal shows. Everyone from their company appreciated my work and work ethic; I was offered to work the state of Idaho by the District manager. As it was too costly to make this trek West four times a year, I declined after saying I needed 150 shows per year to cover expenses. In the meantime, I had been offered this area (150+ shows annually) THREE SEPARATE TIMES by someone in sales who had been offered the job of "Decision-maker" for the company. (My whole contention is that when offered a job 3 separate and distinct times-two by email, one verbally-I should have been given the opportunity.) But no. Suddenly, none of my emails or texts were answered. After months of continuous contact with their event supervisor, I was "blackballed" in the industry for mentioning legal action. Contact with the company CEO lead to an email from a lawyer in their HR department denying any wrong doing. Now my once sterling credit is gone due to my lack of being hired for ANYTHING by ANYONE. My concern is that the owner of this company, Kroger, owns numerous grocery chains throughout the country, in addition to jewelry. If they are willing to treat me with such disdain, how will they treat the thousands of consumers that shop with them?

Thank you for your recent comment. It would be in my, and everyone else's, best interest if you withdrew from being anonymous.

I'm not clear about the details of this post and there are certainly missing pieces. Complaining of being QUOTE : "blackballed" with something about mentioning legal action against the company to the CEO ; how did you manage that ?

An angry call ? Captured in the rest room ? A rambling text ?

What ? You serve at the pleasure of the company and you will have a herculean task proving a malicious conspiracy to deny you work in an area that requires a 4 day drive from home.

Wage review

My wife works for Fred Meyer. On days when she is scheduled for 12+ hours (!), she will take 30 minutes for lunch. Unfortunately, the company routinely deducts one hour regardless. This is convenient, as Kroger (owner of Fred Meyer/Littman Jewelers) has 400,000+ employees; imagine the cost savings! For the firm, this is free money. This practice may or may not be illegal, but it CERTAINLY is amoral. Perhaps this is the basis for an active class action suit; maybe an attorney can provide the necessary answers. As the majority of their business comes from an innocent and unsuspecting public, one has to hesitate to use their products if they continue to treat their employees so poorly.

Not a place for repairs

They tried to get me to pay $50 for a lost lobster claw on a $200 necklace. I left upset, but decided to give them a second chance after a few months when my wife lost a diamond out of her ring. Their estimate twice the cost of what I payed elsewhere. Before I could get the ring back, they offered a $50 coupon on the next purchase. I said OK, but then... They wanted personal information for it (income, mortgage amount, etc.). They sales lady got aggressive and tried to hold the ring as a hostage. Clearly unethical behavior. What a tarnish on the Fred Meyer name. Simply disgraceful, rude and appalling. Avoid these scammers. They are up to no good. They seem to forget that they are not the only store in town.

She was trying to get you to apply for credit to get the $50. She should have been more clear.

Also lobster claws are pretty expensive even in silver. Plus they have to solder the jumpring closed which is about $30 of the cost (retail).

Took two rings in to the CDA Idaho store to get repaired one came back with a chip in the stone the other came back with a design polished off the top of the Black Hills Gold. They did call me and told me that they're jeweler was a Black Hills Gold expert and that my ring was old. I've managed to keep the design on there for 35 + years. And told me how I did sign for the Rings and leave the store without noting the damage. Yes that is my fault my eyes are not as good as they could be and I should be in bifocals. Do not sign for your jewelry until you look it over maybe demand the jeweler's loupe.

Fred Meyer jewelers- Meridian, Idaho

I purchased a Citizen eco-drive watch in Sept 2017 at the Eagle Island store in Meridian, Idaho. Earlier this month, January, the crystal broke with just 4 months of usage. The Citizen warranty, in small print, excludes damage to the crystal. The Fred Meyer response was not what I had expected, that I should have bought an extra warranty from the store. I do not recall an offer of an in-store warranty though I would not likely have purchased it anyway. My previous Callaway watch had lasted 10 yrs. Fred Meyer should have made it right by replacing the crystal at the est of $125. They've lost my business which has been considerable..

I think it's more a Citizen issue than Fred Meyer. No watch warranty covers the crystal.

FMJ offers the watch plan that would cover the crystal but often will cost 40% of what you paid for the watch. If you wore the watch 4 months NO jeweler will guarantee you won't break the crystal.

Guest

I get you are upset that YOU broke the crystal... but from a business standpoint there is NO obligation for FMJ to fix this for free after months of wear and tear.If they did offer to fix it for free for you then that would be BEYOND unexpected..but I wouldn’t be as disappointed as you sound that they didn’t fix it for free.
